💭 What to Do When You’ve Outgrown Your Role but Don’t Know What’s Next

Updated: 6 days ago

Ever catch yourself at work thinking, 'There’s got to be more than this'?

Maybe you used to love your job.

Or maybe it was always “just okay,” but now even the small wins feel dull.

Are you an early or mid-career professional who’s always been driven, curious, and committed to growth?

And yet lately, the spark just isn’t there. You’re not learning like you used to. You’re not excited anymore. And even though nothing is technically wrong, something feels off.

If you’re stuck in a role that no longer challenges or energizes you and you’re not sure what comes next...

You’re not alone.

Outgrowing a role is more common than people admit. It doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’ve evolved.

Let’s talk about what that experience might look like and how I can help you explore what’s next, even if you don’t have all the answers yet.

What Outgrowing a Role Really Feels Like

Outgrowing your role doesn’t always show up as a dramatic moment. More often, it sneaks in quietly:

  • Tasks that once challenged you now feel easy.

  • You’ve stopped raising your hand in meetings because your ideas feel undervalued.

  • The spark is gone, even if the environment hasn’t changed much.

I find that one of the biggest signs you’ve outgrown your role is when you do not have any more room left to continue growing in your current position.

At this point, you may be craving a challenge, autonomy, creativity, or simply the feeling of being seen.

And here’s the tricky part: you might not be sure what you're looking for. You might have already tried “fixing it” by working harder, staying positive, or switching teams. Maybe you’ve even scrolled through job boards hoping something would just click, but nothing’s really lit you up.

Why Potential Unlocked Exists and How I Can Help

I created Potential Unlocked because I know how frustrating it is to feel like you’ve hit a wall but don’t have a roadmap for what’s next.

I work with professionals who are:

  • Longing for something more meaningful, but unsure where to start

  • Questioning whether they’re in the right field

  • Considering a bold change but second-guessing themselves

  • Burnt out from trying to figure it all out alone

When you’ve outgrown your role, what you need isn’t a quick fix; you are looking for space to unpack what’s really going on. Together, we’ll look at:

  • The internal shifts that are happening

  • The external patterns keeping you stuck

  • What it could look like to step into a role that feels aligned

You don’t need to have it all figured out before reaching out. You don’t even need to know what you want yet.

That’s what our work together is for.

You’re Not Stuck - You’re in Transition

That sense of unease or restlessness? It’s often a sign that you’re ready for growth.

When your role no longer feels right, it doesn’t mean something’s wrong; it means you’re changing, and your work may need to change with you. You’re being called to explore something new, even if the path isn’t fully clear yet.

You don’t have to navigate this alone.

If you’re feeling unsure about what’s next, let’s talk. I’ll help you make sense of where you are now and support you in moving toward what’s possible..
